Introducing Steampunk.com’s NaNoWriMo Forum

Today is Halloween, which is cool in its own right. In addition to its own haunted fun, Halloween is the last day before the start of NaNoWriMo, that annual frenzy of typing and caffeine.
For the uninitiated, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, an international event in which people try to complete a first draft of a 50,000 novel in one month. Sounds crazy? Maybe it is, but if you force yourself to crank out those 1667 words per day, you’ll find yourself looking at something you can edit and improve rather than a blank page.
I know a lot of you out there are planning to write some steampunk for NaNoWriMo, so I decided to give you a place on steampunk.com to blow off some steam, discuss what your doing, seek commiseration, or even celebrate when you make it: the Steampunk.com NaNoWriMo Forum. W00t!
Please let us know who you are, what you are writing about, and how it is going. You might find friends, beta readers, or even just some sanity in the wee hours when those last few hundred words are eluding you.
Good luck, NaNoWriMonauts!
Hulloah there! This will be my 4th NanoWrimo. I’m going to be working on the sequel to my first Steampunk book, “Madame Bluestocking’s Pennyhorrid,” which funnily enough goes on sale via Hunt Press tomorrow.
Good luck, Monica! I hope you’ll use the new forum to keep us apprised of your progress as the month goes on.
Hmmm…This is tempting. Very unemployed. Haven’t written fiction in a while, and, maybe if I start something all new…it might get me going. It’s unlikely I’ll write something steampunky though. Can I hang out anyway?
Sure, Laurie. We are not an exclusive club. Come on in.
I’m “soundpreacher” on the NaNoWriMo site. Really looking forward to this.
Writing a steampunk novel, “The Patchwork Girl”. Currently at 2685 words on the first day. My NaNoWriMo pseudonym is Rancid_Pickle, if you need a buddy.
I’m doing NaNo this year, and wanted to write a steampunk novel. I love steampunk cosplay, and have enjoyed steampunk in art, film and television, but I have only recently started reading steampunk fiction, as I didn’t really know where to look. I’m a little worried about being clumsy with the more technical-sounding aspects of steampunk, but I want to be sure to really set the scene and the mood just right. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
My NaNo login is Pythia, if you’d like to add me as a buddy.
