The good folks over at caught me off guard today. The have a post discussing whom Fox should cast for their television series of Alan Moore’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That they are discussing casting of an upcoming show is no surprise. We nerds geeks patrons of the less socially acceptable genres often speculate on such things. We even do it without an upcoming show.

What surprised me is that I missed the announcement about the show in the first place! Egad, how embarrassing! I was quite relieved when I realized I was only a few hours out of date.

Hollywood Reporter writes that a pilot has been ordered with Michael Green and Erwin Stoff as show runners. Green’s pedigree includes Heroes and Smallville, but also writing credits on Green Lantern, so that’s a mixed bag. Stoff’s resume is mercifully lantern-free, but does include a fair number of Keanu Reeves films. Personally, I’ve liked Reeves in many of these, even when he wasn’t perfectly cast, but it does suggest a fondness for wooden acting and less than stellar dialog. Not trying to be a naysayer, but Green Lantern plus The Day the Earth Stood Still doesn’t exactly give me goosebumps.

But we shall see what comes of this. Let me know what you think about this development one way or the other.
