    Hi all,

I’m writing from the BFI Southbank in London. In August 2011 we will be screening the Russian steam punk film Kin-Dza-Dza. Reminiscent of Terry Gilliam and Douglas Adams, this piece of soviet sci-fi deserves to be a cult classic, so for those of you in London come along and have a look!

Opening Oct. 14, 2011 at the Muzeo in Anaheim, CA, Steampunk: History Beyond Imagination will explore the origins, personalities, and lasting effects of an imaginative aesthetic born in “The Age of Steam”, through a collection of artifacts, replicas and informational displays.

After its full run in Anaheim, Steampunk: History Beyond Imagination will likely travel to other locations in the United States.

Some of the galleries will not only enlighten visitors on the connections between science and imagination through artifacts, but will also allow visitors to explore questions about history in creative interactive exhibits.

    Some of our Artifacts include:

*Full scale replica of The Time Machine (created by Rob Niosi) from the 1960 George Pal movie, The Time Machine.
*Replica of The Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
*Original movie props and concept art.
    *Vintage books, comics and fashion
*Video displays featuring interviews with prominent Steampunk scholars, authors, artists, and scientists!
*Steampunk-themed art, sculpture, jewelry, fashion, photography and inventions!

Aeronaut Productions (a small team of artists, designers, and educators) have been given the unique task of beating the odds, and attempting to bring this exhibit to life in a relatively short period of time! Please join us in this endeavor to bring something extraordinary to life!

We are raising money to help us with the following:

    *Build displays and artifact cases.
    *Complete artifact replicas for display.
*Transport our “crown jewel” – a period-authentic replica of The Time Machine to the Muzeo.
*Print graphics and legends for exhibit.

    MEDIA ADVISORY
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Join the magic, mystery, and musings of Indianapolis’ Second Annual Goth Prom. This year’s theme is a Time Traveler’s ball. Headlining performer is “Voltaire’s BLACK UNICORN CABARET: A Villainous Vaudeville of Bawdy Burlesque, Music, Mischief and Mayhem- With Voltaire, This Way to the Egress, The Hellblinki Sextet and girls! girls! girls! Three of the finest Dark Cabaret bands are joined by local burlesque performers for a night not to be missed nor forgotten!”
Inspired by the genre of steam punk, and the writings of Jules Verne; time travelers from all over the world and from various time lines have set their dials to 10/19/2011. Appearing live at Talbott Street Nightclub. Tickets are on sale at http://www.groovetickets.com or available for day of show purchase.
Voltaire. As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star Wars to keep a convention audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him for his songs “Brains!” and “Land of the Dead” from the Cartoon Network show “The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy”. He has also created animated stop-motion commercials for Budweiser, Ikea, RC cola, Parker Brothers, Kellogg’s Arm and Hammer, Marvel, MTV, and many others.
Voltaire’s live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra, are full of stories and games. Many describe his shows as sitting around a fire while an old friend regales you with tales, presuming that old friend drinks a liter of rum a night, dates zombie prostitutes and wrestles Krakens. Voltaire has been recording and touring for over 15 years. He’s released 8 full length CDs, most of them through Projekt Records.
His new CD features appearances by Bauhaus’ David J., Dresden Doll’s Brian Viglione, and Melora Creager of Rasputina.

Day late and all that. The NJ Shakespeare Theatre’s production of “”Timon of Athens” was a steam punk phenomenon! Fab costumes, incredible staging! What might have been a boring, preachy Shakespeare through-away, was a fascinating, concise indightment of the human condition.

  15. Kim says:

Always get that name backwards. “Shaespeare Theatre of NJ”.

“Dark Carnivale: A MidWinter Masque” brings a steampunk aesthetic to The Uptown nightclub on 1928 Telegraph, in Oakland, CA 94612, on Thursday night December 1st, 2001. The avant-garde music of the San Francisco-based progenitor of the steampunk music scene, Vernian Process, ranges from progressive rock to trip-hop, neoclassical to ragtime, and tribal to new wave. Local cellist Unwoman will be joining them for their set.

  34. Marjorie says:

How about a little steam – of the engine type and a little punk of any type.

I’d like to announce the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Boston, MA.
The Waterworks Museum is located on the site of the original Chestnut Hill Reservoir and pumping station. By the 1880’s, Boston’s water system couldn’t keep up with the rapid growth of the city and its water needs. Chestnut Hill was identified as the location for a new reservoir and main pumping station. The original station was built in 1887, but by the 1890’s, it was clear that demand had quickly outstripped the ability to transport sufficient water. The need for more water resulted in the installation of increasingly powerful (and enormous!) pumping engines, which operated every day until the 1970’s, when the site was taken offline, and Boston’s water supply shifted to the Quabbin Reservoir. The Chestnut Hill Reservoir, however, is still used as a back-up source of water in case of emergencies.

    So why visit us?

We tell some important regional stories about clean water, health, people, brilliant engineers, and magnificent architecture. Our stories tell how Boston grew to be the city it is today.

  35. Tibor Mazar says:

Where is the news for 2012 events?

  36. jrrl says:

I’m working on it. This year’s been off to a bumpy start, I’m afraid.
